Capture Every Detail, Shape Your Vision.

Artec Spider II

Artec Spider II, a target-free handheld 3D scanner.

Designed to capture complex objects with an impressive level of detail, Spider II scans quickly, in full colour, and ultra-high resolution.

These features make it perfect for applications that require great attention to detail – from in-depth reverse engineering to the creation of hyper-realistic CGI.

Industrial 3D scanner for portable metrology

Building on the success of its industry-favourite predecessor, Artec Space Spider, Spider II features significant improvements including greater depth and field of view, capture speed, and resolution.

Harnessing the power of blue-light technology, Spider II captures a unique mix of high-quality geometry and texture data for incredibly detailed models. In practice, this means digitizing everything from tiny surface details on coins to entire engine blocks, in soaring 0.05 mm resolution.

Spider II picks up data four times as quickly – at a rate of 30 FPS. At 1,800 cm³, the device’s volume capture zone is also twice the size, so it can scan larger objects, complex geometries, and sharp edges, effortlessly and error-free, while ensuring no detail goes uncaptured.

With a versatile design, lightweight 950-gram body, and target-free functionality, Spider II is highly intuitive and straightforward to use. Setup takes seconds, so users can start creating exceptionally lifelike 3D models in a single click, right out of the box.

“With Spider II, we’ve made a significant breakthrough, honing our original concept to deliver faster, easier, more realistic results. Now, we are bringing an unmatched level of resolution and detail to diverse fields,” said Art Yukhin, CEO & President of Artec 3D. “Spider II is ideal for capturing anything from priceless artifacts to vital forensic clues – wherever fine detail is required.”

Artec Spider II Key Features

Ultra-High Resolution

Spider II has the ability to scan details of up to 0.05mm resolution. Crisp details of your parts come through in a wide range of applications, like showing the details of a coin to intricate parts of an engine.

Targetless and contactless scanning allow for no loss in capturable surface, keeping the object true to shape for inspection and reverse engineering.

Faster Scanning Speed
The Spider II also boasts a scanning speed of 15 fps – resulting in faster scanning times as the user can move quicker around the object to scan it.

Additional data acquisition from the faster FPS allows operators to have an easier time scanning complex components and maintain tracking through the scanning process.

Blue-Light Technology

The Spider II uses blue-light technology to help capture normally difficult surfaces for light-based scanners. Darker and glossy surfaces may require additional preparation or be captured at several angles to produce good results using traditional white-light technology.

Blue light, however, reduces the noise generated from these difficult surfaces and allows for an easier time to capture it – opening up new applications for users with preparation requirements for their parts.

Wider Field of View

The scanner’s field of view has also been increased – it is now 128 x 104mm at close range and 171 x 152mm at further distances. Not only does this further help the scanner’s ability to track since it allows for more geometry to be captured at once, but also allow for larger object scanning.

The Spider II is suited for scanning of medium-sized objects easily, such as a car engine, whereas the Space Spider would require several scans in multiple positions for a similar object.

Artec 3D Scanner Benefits

Easy and Fast Operations

Safe to use
Artec 3D Scanner uses invisible VCSEL structured light projection, making it totally safe for scanning people, as well as inanimate objects. Because of VCSCEL light technology, scanning is possible even in outdoors conditions

Just point and shoot
No need preparation such as pasting targets and calibration, just simply plug in the scanner and point it around the object as you would with a video camera. Point scanner closer to object to zoom in for sharper details

Scan fast with geometry and texture tracking
Artec 3D Scanner uses built-in accelerometer, gyro and compass to know its position in real world. Together with reading of scanned object’s geometry and color, fast and smooth scanning is possible even for large featureless object

SDK integration and scanners bundling
Artec SDK allows you to integrate Artec scanners into your own custom solutions free of charge. Also, to capture larger area, several scanners can be bundled and synced together
